Nigel, I love the article! You always have excellent writing. One thing that I think you may have rushed through is the "Echo Chamber" effect. I do think that the 24 hour news cycle is the largest reason people have reluctance to adapt ideas. Just my 2 cents....
Additionally, 1) we can pick the 24-hour 'news' service that will reinforce our views, and 2) for many reasons, ALL of these news services accept deficient proof levels before releasing - today, it appears worse to be late than wrong.
The best approach is to accept that nothing you see on TV, especially TV NEWS, is really 'true' - so multiple sources are always needed before coming to your conclusion. Never trust theirs.

Wholeheartedly agree on having multiple sources of info to get to any semblance of truth. Keep up the good work here and on OH!
